Trump proposes $619M for US territories, FAS in FY 2021 budget

The proposal also includes funding for U.S. allies in the Pacific who have a Compact of Free Association with the United States — the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau. The FY 2021 OIA budget proposal includes $89.2 million in current appropriations and $530.0 million in permanent funding.

“The 2021 budget request prioritizes the Department’s mission to fulfill our insular area responsibilities in the Pacific as well as in the Caribbean,” said Douglas W. Domenech, assistant secretary of the Interior, Insular and International Affairs. “This funding request exemplifies President Trump and Secretary David Bernhardt’s continued support for the U.S. territories and the Freely Associated States.”
