A high surf advisory is in effect through Friday morning.
There is a high risk of rip currents along north-facing reefs, but rip currents risk has fallen to moderate along east reefs.
Along north-facing reefs, hazardous surf of 7 to 10 feet will continue through early Friday morning. Surf will slowly subside through the morning and should fall below hazardous levels of 9 feet around midday. The high risk of rip currents is expected to also fall to moderate around midday.
Along east facing reefs, surf has fallen to between 6 and 8 feet. As a result, the high risk of rip currents has dropped to moderate.
Gov. Ralph DLG Torres is advising the general public to avoid venturing out along the reef line, especially along north-facing reefs.
Large breaking waves can knock you down. If you become caught in a rip current, remain calm, and stay afloat while waiting for help. To swim out of a rip current, swim parallel to shore and back toward the beach when possible. Do not attempt to swim directly against a rip current as you will tire quickly.
