Philippine consulate receives 450 overseas absentee voting requests

Hamoy, who led a four-day consular service outreach that started on Saturday at Sun Palace Hotel, said the registration of qualified absentee voters will continue until Sept. 30, 2021. The Philippine general elections are set for May 9, 2022.

Hamoy noted that most of the absentee voters on Saipan have changed their mailing addresses.

In last year’s Philippine elections, 80% of the absentee ballots were returned to the consulate.

Hamoy said Filipino citizens who failed to vote in the two previous elections should register again.

He urged Filipino voters in the CNMI to check if their names are still on the list of registered overseas voters.
