Mrs. Torres is calling on the private and public sectors to nominate women who have gone through obstacles in life and overcame the challenges.

She said anyone can nominate a woman by submitting her success story along with a photo.

Mrs. Torres said they will review all the stories that will be submitted, and will select the top 5.

“We want to recognize them for being an inspiration,” she added. “They are someone we can look up to.”

But it does not have to mean that a woman must have a successful career. “It could be a single mother who fell into drugs and lost custody of her kids. She went through recovery and she now has the custody of her kids. These are stories that will serve as inspiration to others,” Mrs. Torres said.

This is the second year that Mrs. Torres and Mrs. Palacios are recognizing “Women of Action.”

In 2019, 125 women were honored for “shattering the glass ceiling” and thriving in male-dominated workplaces.
