GOVERNOR Arnold I. Palacios on Friday rescinded the price freeze order he announced as Typhoon Mawar approached the Marianas.
The governor issued Executive Order 2023-004 on May 22, 2023, declaring a state of emergency as Rota was experiencing Typhoon Condition 1 while Saipan and Tinian were under Tropical Storm Condition 1. The next day, he issued EO 2023-3 declaring a price freeze pursuant to the Commonwealth Disaster Price Freeze Act.
His declaration states that the “price freeze shall last until rescinded or until the declaration of emergency is terminated, whichever occurs first.”
In his EO 2023-005 on Friday, the governor said the CNMI “is no longer under an emergency declaration and products are readily available, the threat of shortages and price gouging no longer threaten our community.”
His order states that the condition necessitating a price freeze has now passed.
