“It’s too soon to make a decision,” he said when asked if Liberation Day festivities could still push through amid the government’s austerity measures and an economic slowdown.
The Liberation Day Committee, Hofschneider said, has not yet convened.
He noted that the mayor’s office usually asks for financial assistance from the Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation.
But he said it is uncertain whether the delegation can identify funds to appropriate for this year’s Liberation Day festivities.
“We may have a parade only on July 4th,” he added.
