On Monday, March 23, 2020, the Department of Fire and EMS activated 13 personnel to assist with the Covid-19 pandemic adding throughout the week to meet the required needs.
After receiving information on Saturday, March 28, 2020 of the two positive cases of Covid-19 in the CNMI, DFEMS activated 27 additional firefighter personnel to help the Covid-19 Task Force to assist with the pandemic.
DFEMS’ primary objectives are to:
• Transport passengers from the Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport to Kanoa Resort (designated quarantine facility)
• Escort airline passengers to assigned rooms
• Deliver drop-off items to patients in their rooms and persons under investigation or PUI
• Transport PUI from CHCC to quarantine site
• Decontaminate after every drop-off, transport, and contact with any quarantined person(s)
• Assist CHCC medical personnel by remaining on standby for 24 hours for any emergency transport needed for quarantined person(s)
• Assist CHCC in conducting secondary health assessment to all inbound passengers
DFEMS continues to support the governor’s Covid-19 Task Force and its emergency medical support function.
