Mawati was up against Connie’s BBQ as both teams exchanged baskets in the first quarter. Mawati eventually gained the upper hand with Pastrana sinking in 8 points to give his team the extra cushion at the end of the first quarter.

Connie’s BBQ, unfortunately, could not answer Mawati’s run. Quick strides and power were on Mawati’s side. Steals were converted to easy transition buckets to expand Mawati’s lead with Ferrer sinking in 7 markers while Demapan and Pastrana chipping in for 4 in the last few minutes of the second half which ended with Mawati still leading, 34-26.

Following a poor first half, Connie’s BBQ shifted momentum in the third quarter and outscored Mawati in the third quarter 15-11.

Entering the fourth and final quarter, Connie’s BBQ was behind by two buckets only, 41-45. Eric Joe showed efficiency with floaters and put backs, scoring 8 points and a free-throw in the first few minutes of play. Mawati, however, retaliated with four triples to break the chain. Pastrana and Ferrer then anchored Mawati toward its first win of the season, 66-61.

In the other game of the night, Paulo Rafols led NAPA with his 18 markers. His height and power overwhelmed IT&E. Brandon Santos scored a game high of 24 points, but his effort fell way short as NAPA dismantled IT&E, 100-59.
