Me Ae Jeon tops HANMI golf tourney

ME Ae Jeon  won the 21st Annual HANMI Charity Classic Golf Tournament on Saturday at the west course of Laolao Bay Golf & Resort.

With a double peoria format in play, it was  anyone’s game with 12 holes randomly selected.

Me Ae Jeon completed the course with a gross score of 81. With a handicap of 10.8, her net score was 70.20, which earned her first place and the $500 cash prize.

 Joseph Sablan and Ben Duenas  both ended with a gross score of 80 and sported a handicap of 9.6 to hold a net score of 70.40.  

A score card playoff broke the tie in Sablan’s favor because on hole #4 he tapped in a par while Duenas closed with a bogey. But both received the $500 cash prize.

Ned Norita finished fourth and was followed by Sixtus Aquino, Giovanni Mira, and Franco Santos. Each were received $300 cash.

 Eighth placer Dominic Kieffer was followed by Feddy Flores, Rick Sablan, JJ Atalig and Sherlyn Jones. Each won $200 in cash.

Also receiving $200 cash were the option play winners. The Closest to the Pin award was won by Freddy Flores with 31.5 inches on hole #3; Franco Santos with 86 inches on hole #7; Freddy Flores again, this time with 16 inches on hole #13;  and Domingo Atalig with 39 inches on hole #17.

 Kim Sae Hee won the Accurate Drive Award on hole #9 with 6.5 inches.

The consolation prize winners were 120th place  Byung Do Min,  80th place Ronnie Yeom, 40th place Gerald Guerrero, and 20th place Peter “Dung” Tenorio. Each received $100 cash.

A portion of the proceeds of this year’s tournament will benefit Marianas Tourism Education Council and 500 Sails.
