Docomo eyes service restoration by July 31, augments crew to accelerate repair

GUAM (Pacific Island Times) — Setting a goal to get its services normalized by July 31, Docomo Pacific today announced plans to augment its resources by enlisting “strategic partners” and bringing in additional equipment to accelerate its restoration efforts.

The company said more than 80 skilled workers are expected to arrive this week to support its current restoration crew.

The reinforcement team consists of mobile technicians, fiber and coax technicians, construction linemen and project managers. The company will boost its resources with a fleet of over 30 bucket trucks, pick-up trucks and cable spool trailers.

“Our Guam network spans approximately 900 miles,” Docomo said.

The Guam crew will get support from Docomo Pacific CNMI team, Guam-based California Pacific Technical Services LLC, Danes Construction, Fiber Tech Solutions Inc., Guahan Tower, JMC Equipment/VT Group, Nokia, Pacific Technologies, Palau National Communications Corp. and REG Builders.

The second phase of Docomo’s post-Mawar recovery listed the following goals:

Optimize mobile service quality (talk/text/data)

Accelerate restoration of individual home/business Internet services

Extend and strengthen the fiber network as the company rebuilds.

Docomo targets the completion of these goals by July 31.

As of June 22, Docomo said its mobile network now has complete island coverage and is broadcasting a signal for talk and text, and has restored some home services to customers with minimal storm damage.
