Saipan mayor’s office ready to implement house numbering project

By mid-January, he said, the mayor’s personnel will start visiting homes and building owners to provide them with their designated home or building numbers.

“If we make a mistake, we can always make a correction,” Hofschneider added.

It may take a year or more to fully implement the project, he said.

“After the distribution of the numbers we’re going back to verify the GPS reading to make sure that the homes and building owners put up their numbers as recommended,” Hofschneider said.

The Saipan mayor’s office will start the distribution of the designated home building numbers in the southern part of the island, he added.

He said they will also collect visual recording for the database that can help the mayor’s office and federal agencies in the cleanup and recovery program in the event of another typhoon.

“But we are not going to intrude on anyone’s privacy or share something they don’t want the public to know,” he said.
