Against Los Viejos, Eats Easy’s players did not take long to find their rhythm as Kosuke Sato found the back of the net just six minutes into the game. The rest of the team started to contribute with Jershwin Angeles making it to the scoreboard at the 12th minute mark followed by Fradel Sedillo chipping in the team’s third consecutive goal a minute later. They did not stop there as Sato kept pressing and was rewarded with three more goals at the 18th, 24th and 30th minute marks to give Eats Easy a 6-0 cushion.
Los Viejos’ players still had some fight left in them in the second half as they stopped the bleeding at the 38th minute, thanks to Mike Hall. Eats Easy, however, retaliated with three goals. Leith Poole then joined the fray for Los Viejos’ second goal, but they could not overcome their opponent’s output. Eats Easy won, 11-2.
The Paire Football Club players had a much tougher battle, but they still managed to slip past Matansa Football Club 7-5.
The Matansa players drew first blood as they took advantage of a weak defense that allowed Dhiraj Chhetri to score in the first two minutes of the game. However, Paire’s Chris Nelson replied with a well-executed play to tie the game, 1-1, after 10 minutes of play. Paire’s other players then added three more goals. Their continuous pressure led to Matansa’s committing an error by scoring in its own goal while Paire’s Steve McKagan and Yogi Singh followed up with a goal each to stretch their team’s lead 4-1.
Paire continued to harden the wall with three more goals but Matansa was not to be counted out so soon. Its players eventually found their second wind, striking back with four goals late in the game, but time was not on their side as Paire held onto its lead to win the game, 7-5.
