In August, Joseph Carlson joined CUC as its new chief engineer for water and wastewater, a position required under Stipulated Order 1.
“They are now reviewing data and communicating with the staff,” Camacho said.
“We need revenue and we need everybody to pay their fair share for the utility services they receive so CUC can maintain and improve its infrastructure,” he added.
With Blackcloud and Carlson on board, Camacho said CUC expects to see a reduction in non-revenue water and an improvement in the efficiency of the water system.
The non-revenue water has been 72 percent over the years, but this should decline as CUC expands its 24-hour water service, he added.
In a previous report, CUC said the causes of non-revenue water included leakages, storage tank overflows, unauthorized use through either water theft and tampering, and unmetered consumption.
