NICK Sablan topped the Saipan Golf Association 2023 May Ace of the Month tournament on Sunday, May 21, at the west course of Laolao Bay Golf & Resort.
Sablan played well and displayed consistency throughout the 18 holes.
From start to finish, the veteran golfer maintained a proper swing, closing the front and back nines with an even gross of 38 for a total gross score of 76. With a handicap of 7, his net score was an unbeatable 69.
Ray Salas, who finished second, performed well on the front nine, shooting a gross of 45. However, he struggled to maintain his swing on the back nine and ended with a gross of 50 for a total gross score of 95. But thanks to a handicap of 19, his net score was 76.
Mariano Fajardo settled for third place. He cleared the course with an even 50 on the front and back nines for a gross score of 100. His 23 handicap gave him a net score of 77.
In the optional play, Nick Sablan bagged the Closest to the Pin Award as he claimed holes #3, #13, and #17 while Ed Manibusan ruled hole #7. Nick Sablan also won the Longest Drive Award for holes #2 and #12.
Sablan joins the list of SGA’s 2023 Ace of the Month winners: Ray Salas (January), Das (February), Joe I. Sablan (March) and Rick Kautz (April).
