THE Brewers continued their ascension in the 2023 Tan Holdings Saipan Baseball League team standings after slipping past D9er’s, 10-9, Friday at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.
The action started in the opening inning with D9er’s drawing first blood as their two first at bat, Isaiah and Ben Lizama, were brought in by John Benavente and Tindin Deleon Guerrero who collected an RBI each for two earned runs.
However, the Brewers quickly responded with three runs in three hits led by Franco Nakamura’s two-RBI single and Diego Camacho’s RBI single to seize the lead, 3-2.
The Brewers continued to control the pace of the game as they left D9er’s silent for the next two innings while scoring a run in the bottom of the third.
D9ers broke the silence in the fourth with two runs scored off errors, but their defensive errors allowed the Brewers to bag three runs to maintain the advantage, 7-4.
In the top of the fifth, D9er’s pulled a comeback and scored four consecutive runs to regain control, 8-7.
But the Brewers recovered in the bottom of the sixth with two runs thanks to the work of Devyn Flores, who made the highlight reel with an RBI single and later stole home off an error to give his team the lead once again, 9-8.
D9er’s countered with a single run made in the top of the seventh and final inning to even the score, but the Brewers were saved by Kaipo Dikito’s sacrifice fly that brought in Diego Camacho and the win, 10-9.
