REGION II, District 204 of the Lions Clubs International, in collaboration with the Fraternal Order of Eagles (Philippine Eagles), Saipan-Guam Eagle District, collected a total of $5,817 from a coin drive held on June 2.
According to Region Chair Eden Mercado, “$2,966.49 was collected during the actual coin drive at the San Jose traffic intersection while $2,850.51 was collected from individual and club donations. The funds collected will be directly given to Lions Clubs International D204 District Governor Loisa Cabuhat for relief distribution” on Guam, which suffered significant damage from Typhoon Mawar.
A separate assistance package is being prepared for Rota, which was also affected by the typhoon, Region Chair Lion Marcelo “Mar” Masilungan added.
“Lions Clubs members here on Saipan will be flying to Rota to facilitate the relief items distribution,” he added.
