HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — The woman who died in a fatal traffic crash in Tumon over the weekend has been identified.
On Monday afternoon, the Guam Police Department revealed that the driver who died after a colliding with a concrete light post was 33-year-old Gianna Lyn Duenas Mesa of Inålahan.
Officers responded to a traffic crash on Route 14 or Pale San Vitores Road, by the hill next to John F. Kennedy High School in Tumon.
Mesa, who was driving a beige sedan, was traveling east on the inner lane of Route 14 when she reportedly struck a raised median by the JFK hill. Mesa lost control of the vehicle and ran off the roadway before colliding with a concrete light post, GPD spokesperson Officer Berlyn Savella stated in a press release.
The Guam Fire Department and GPD’s Highway Patrol Division responded to the incident.
Mesa was transported to Guam Memorial Hospital by GFD, who administered CPR enroute. However, she would be pronounced dead by a doctor at GMH.
Savella adds that Mesa was identified by next of kin.
The investigation into the fatal crash and Mesa’s death, which was the 24th traffic fatality this year, remains open and ongoing.
