BELLA Wings Aviation or BWA on Thursday announced that it will roll out its first drone training program in early June.

This program will be geared toward first responders and will consist of both classroom and practical training.

“In drone first responder scenarios, the ability of a firefighter to deploy and have the drone take the most direct path to an incident gives them a significant advantage in quickly evaluating an incident,” said Dr. Natalia Faculo, BWA’s business strategy and operations advisor.

Faculo said drones can also be utilized by Corrections officers to provide perimeter checks, or by police for nighttime scanning or entering areas that would be a hazard to human life.

Along with the start of the program, BWA also announced that it will hold a job fair on Saipan in the same month to fill certified drone pilot, technical, and administrative positions in the company.

“We want to thank Governor Palacios and Lt. Governor Apatang for their astute guidance and steadfast commitment to fostering economic development in the CNMI,” said BWA CEO and co-founder Charlie Hermosa.

“The governor’s strategic initiatives and policies have aligned with BWA’s vision and mission which will result in a thriving landscape that will positively impact the lives of CNMI residents. By fostering an environment conducive to entrepreneurship and innovation, the governor has encouraged local businesses to flourish and has attracted new ventures to the region, which will drive economic progress.”

BWA also extends its appreciation to Rep. Manny Castro for championing drone education.

Established on Guam, Bella Wings Aviation is a regional drone company that is “creating geographical and environmentally focused solutions in order to establish an infrastructure of drone services from island-to-island deliveries to life-saving operations.”
