HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — Guam Regional Medical City is hosting the Shriners Hospitals for Children Honolulu this week until Friday, Oct. 6, in conjunction with the Department of Public Health and Social Services. This is Shriners’ fifth clinic held at GRMC, according to a news release from the hospital.
During this visit, the Shriners Honolulu Medical Outreach Team is scheduled to see 40 to 50 current select pediatric patients per day with orthopedic conditions, burns and spinal cord injuries. Due to the high volume of scheduled patients for the week, referrals for new patients will be placed on a waitlist. No surgeries will take place during this visit, the release stated.
Pediatric orthopedic surgeon Dr. Craig Ono will lead a team of three, which includes Vena Joco, an advanced practice registered nurse, outreach coordinator Sandy Zukeran and clinical research coordinator Rob Miyamoto. DPHSS will provide direct support under the leadership of Margarita Gay, administrator for the Bureau of Family Health and Nursing Services.
Parents or legal guardians of new patients will need to complete an application form, which may be picked up at 155 Hesler Place, the former Guam Legislature building in Hagåtña, Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 to 4 p.m. Applications must include a copy of the child’s birth certificate, parent identification card and proof of legal guardianship, if applicable.
