THE NMI’S La Hunn, Nasson Wessel, and Siwoo Lee have advanced to the quarterfinals of the Boys Singles event of the 2023 Pacific Oceania Junior Championships in Lautoka, Fiji.
In the Boys Singles 14 Group C, La Hunn defeated Tahiti’s Matehau Sacault to notch a perfect record of three wins and no losses.
Against Sacault, Hunn set the tone early in the first set which he won 6-1. In the second set, Hunn was once again unstoppable, winning 6-1, to secure match victory.
Hunn’s next match will be against American Samoa’s Aifili Tamasoaalii in the quarterfinals today, Thursday.
Nasson Wessel also secured a spot in the playoff after beating Samoa’s Aaron Carruthers, 6-0, 6-0, in group B of the Boys Singles 14 event.
Wessel will face Fiji’s Uraia Ratu today, Thursday, in the quarterfinals.
Siwoo Lee, the third NMI athlete to reach the quarterfinals, will be up against the FSM’s Dontrick Daniel.
