A Message from Brigadier General, USA Mark W. Siekman

Hafa Adai & Tiro!

Courage. Patriotism. Valor. Resilience. These are some of the words that come to my mind when I think of what it took the of People of the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) and the service members to survive World War II. As we celebrate this year’s liberation day, let us remember the courage and resilience of our heroes and people of the CNMI as they fought for freedom.

Seventy-seven years ago, the people of CNMI and our service members in uniform united and fought with valor and patriotism to liberate the islands from Imperial Japan. These virtues are very much present in the People of the CNMI and the US Army Reserve Soldiers today.

As we face a new enemy, the islands of the CNMI are as strategic as they were back in World War II. They are critical in preserving the freedom that we fought for. The 9th Mission Support Command, the Army Reserve of Pacific will continue to stay dedicated to our values and courage to stand up and fight for the freedom of our nation and the island of the CNMI.

God bless the Commonwealth of Northern Marianas and our great nation!

Pride of the Pacific!

Mark W. Siekman
