HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — A woman was charged in connection to throwing a knife at a man’s head.
On Oct. 20 at about 12:26 p.m., a man at a Dededo residence told officers with the Guam Police Department that he was assaulted by Carla Lou Taimanglo, according to a magistrate’s complaint filed in the Superior Court of Guam.
Earlier in the day, Taimanglo and the man were arguing in the kitchen, and the altercation turned physical. A household member then came between the two, but when she held Taimanglo back, Taimanglo “grabbed a kitchen knife and threw the knife toward the victim’s direction,” according to court documents.
The victim told police that during the argument Taimanglo was throwing items at him. While his head was turned, he said he felt a sharp object hit his head. He then went outside, and he felt liquid on his shoulder and saw that it was blood.
According to the complaint, Taimanglo threw the knife on the roof of the residence, which officers later found. Officers also observed the victim had a puncture wound on the back of his head, which was bleeding.
When speaking with police, Taimanglo allegedly said the “victim was running his mouth and that she had thrown a screwdriver and knife at him.”
Taimanglo, according to the complaint, also said the man received the puncture wound from when she punched the back of his head.
Taimanglo was charged with aggravated assault and family violence as third-degree felonies and faces a maximum sentence of 60 years if convicted.
The charges against her also include a notice that alleges Taimanglo committed a felony while on felony release, and the complaint stated she was on pretrial release for a 2020 felony case.
The Office of the Attorney General stated the 2020 case involved possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, and there was an active bench warrant for her arrest.
On Oct. 21, Taimanglo was held in prison on $3,000 cash bail, as ordered by Magistrate Judge Jonathan Quan.
