THE Falcons on Thursday advanced to the semifinals of the 2023 Tan Holdings Saipan Baseball League by trouncing the Blue Jays, 12-2, at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.

It was a slow-paced game with the Falcons’ Giovanni Mira stealing bases in the first inning to reach third with ease. He  was later given a clear path home due to a Blue Jays’ error to give the Falcons the lead, 1-0.

Their lead grew as two more runs were added in the second inning and two more in the next two innings for a comfortable 5-0 advantage.

The Blue Jays finally came alive in the  fifth and six innings with two runs scored, but the Falcons retaliated with six runs in the bottom of the sixth led by JD Magofna’s two-run single, to secure the easy win, 12-2.

Also advancing are the Brewers who defeated the CK Bears, 10-7.

In the semifinals, the Falcons will face the no. 2 seed Junior Nationals while the Brewers will go up against the top seed, the Cardinals.

The SBL will now take a break to accommodate the SBL-UOG Baseball Friendship Tournament set for Monday to Friday, July 25 to 28.
