The former Joeten apartment building in Chalan Kanoa is fully engulfed with fire early Saturday morning.
THE Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to a fire at an abandoned apartment building in Chalan Kanoa early Saturday morning.
Community volunteer Max Aguon told Variety that he was sleeping when he was woken up by loud noises — police and fire truck sirens — outside his house.
He said when he stepped out of his house, he saw a former Joeten apartment fully engulfed with flames that firefighters were trying to extinguish.
“It was a big fire, very bright, you can feel the heat even from afar,” Aguon added.
As a safety measure, police set up roadblocks.
The fire started at about 12:45 midnight and was fully extinguished around 2:30 a.m., Aguon said.
No one was hurt.
As of Sunday afternoon, the fire department had not issued any media statement regarding the fire.
