AS part of their efforts to educate 30 million overseas Filipinos worldwide through their 30M by 30 Program, International Marketing Group or IMG Saipan conducted a financial literacy seminar at the multi-purpose center on Saturday.
“There are many Filipinos here in Saipan who have been working here for more than a decade but have not saved a single penny,” IMG financial educator Mylene Apostol said in an interview.
“Our objective is to teach them how to save money,” she said. “It is not forever that they will be employees. There will come a time when we might lose our jobs or when we are old and gray…. Did we invest in something for ourselves? What about our future? As workers, we work to make companies rich but we can also invest in our skills and knowledge for ourselves. We can also work for ourselves. True freedom is financial freedom,” she said.
More than 50 individuals participated in the free seminar. As of this month, Apostol said IMG has already educated eight million overseas Filipinos on financial literacy.
She said IMG is company that has expanded from the Philippines to various countries around the world to assist people who want to help themselves build their financial foundation.
Among the perks of being part of IMG are having instant access to remittance systems and a savings account from stable banks in the Philippines as well as a life insurance.
