Girl Scouts of the NMI looking for future Girl Scouts

THE Girl Scouts of the NMI is announcing their open enrollment in October. But anyone interested can register any time to start participating in all the fun!

The fee per scout is $45 and the Girl Scouts of the NMI troop is #29001.

Visit https://www.usagso.org/en/get-involved/join.html to sign up. Be sure to reference “Troop 29001” for Saipan. After registration, you will be added to the Girl Scouts WhatsApp chat group to stay on top of last-minute changes/updates.

Uniforms

Uniforms are not included with the registration fee. Scout uniform sashes cost approximately $10.50 plus starter pins & patches for $12. These items will be ordered as soon as registrations are confirmed. T-shirts are available at $15/shirt for both child and adult. T-shirts are limited!

Meetings

Meetings occur on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month (except November and December). For cookie sales month, meetings occur weekly throughout March and into April.

GS cookies

Each scout will sell cookies as a group and sales will be at various stores on the island on a weekly basis or until all the cookies are gone! Cookies are priced at $6 per box. Scouts will learn how to count money, give change, as well as practice their public speaking/ sales and marketing skills!

Parent meeting/orientation

A parent orientation usually happens in late October so parents can be introduced to the leadership and the events planned for November-December-January-February-March. In late March, a planning session happens so Scouts can decide their activity/learning focus for the remainder of the Girl Scout year (April-September).

Meetings and activities

Meetings are usually “drop off” and parents are not expected to stay for Girl Scout activities. You are free to use this 60–90-minute time for yourself/errands/etc. You are also welcome to stay and be with your child!

This year, the Girl Scouts of the NMI will focus on life skills such as cooking, first aid, etc. and entrepreneurial skills.  We hope to also engage in a community service project in April or May. Adult volunteers are welcomed!  If you have a special skill or want to impart knowledge, we’d love to have you be a guest speaker.

Pay $5 for your registration with the code “YEAROFADVENTURE5” until Nov 30!

Calling adult volunteers

Think back to when you were a kid. Remember the people who really listened to you, who inspired you, and who helped support you through it all? When you volunteer with Girl Scouts, you are one of those people.  Together, you and Troop 29001 will try new things, help our community, build each other up, and make unforgettable memories.

Through fun, laughter, and connection, you’ll create a safe space where girls are celebrated for being themselves.  This year, be a role model and mentor just by being yourself! You don’t need to have a child of your own to get involved — you just need to be passionate about helping others. The Girl Scouts of the NMI is actively looking to fulfill the positions of co-chairperson, cookie manager, and recruiter!

Sign up online at https://mygs.girlscouts.org/volunteer/.  Or, perhaps you do not want to commit for a full year, but are interested in helping the Girl Scouts achieve their goals?  You can volunteer as an instructor or facilitator, sharing your knowledge and skills (cooking, sewing, hiking, financial literacy, etc.). The possibilities are endless!
