(NMC) — The CNMI Department of Labor, in partnership with the CNMI Small Business Development Center at Northern Marianas and the Saipan Chamber of Commerce, will host a compliance training and outreach event aimed at assisting government and private employers, human resource, payroll, and accounting professionals to navigate through regulatory requirements and enhance compliance practices.
The training is scheduled to take place on Friday, Oct. 13, 2023 at the Gov. Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe. The primary objective of this training is to empower the community with the knowledge and tools necessary to maintain compliance with pertinent labor laws and regulations.
Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from leading experts in the field, gaining insights into the latest compliance updates and best practices. Topics covered will include local and federal reporting requirements, familiarization of compliance forms such as the Total Workforce Listing & Manual, the Workforce Plan & Manual, and the Form W-2CM, and guidance on filing instructions, submission, common errors, and tips.
“The primary purpose of the department’s outreach is to better educate employers in submitting compliance documents required by local and federal labor laws and regulations,” said Eugene Tebuteb, director of employment services at the CNMI Department of Labor. “We understand that the compliance process is often arduous and time-consuming, so for the past several months we have come up with methods to improve our reporting system and its ease of use. Ultimately, we hope to increase the number of compliant employers operating in the CNMI. This compliance training is free and highly recommended for private sector employers who currently employ or seek to employ foreign, non-immigrant workers,”
“Part of the CNMI SBDC’s mission is to promote business compliance practices through offering technical assistance at no-cost to our clients,” said Nadine Deleon Guerrero, network director at the CNMI Small Business Development Center. “As the leading experts in labor law and policy, we are grateful to the CNMI DOL and the Saipan Chamber of Commerce for this collaboration that will offer education and outreach to ensure regulatory requirements are being met by our businesses throughout the Commonwealth. We look forward to more partnership and training opportunities with our partners,”
Registration for the training is now open and interested parties are encouraged to secure their spots.
