SHRM to conduct webinar on Pregnant Workers Fairness Act

THE SHRM CNMI Chapter, the leading organization for human resources professionals in the Commonwealth, is excited to announce an upcoming general membership meeting in collaboration with the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. This exclusive virtual event, scheduled to take place on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., will address crucial updates and insights on the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act.

The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act or PWFA is a landmark piece of legislation aimed at providing essential protections for pregnant employees in the workplace. It addresses the rights and accommodations pregnant workers deserve, including but not limited to reasonable accommodations, prevention of discrimination, and the guarantee of a safe and healthy work environment for expectant mothers.

This general membership meeting is free to all members of the SHRM CNMI Chapter as well as HR professionals and business leaders from the broader community. Attendance is on a first-come, first-serve basis via accessing the Zoom link.

This informative and engaging session will feature esteemed representatives from the EEOC, who will provide invaluable insights into the PWFA and its implications for both employers and employees.

The speakers are Nicole St. Germain, lead outreach & education coordinator/public relations manager, U.S. EEOC – Los Angeles District Office; and Amy Nigro, outreach & education coordinator, U.S. EEOC – Los Angeles District Office

2) Best  practices  for  compliance:  Explore  practical  strategies  and  best  practices  for  HR professionals to ensure compliance with the PWFA and create an inclusive work environment.

3)  Q&A session: Engage directly with EEOC representatives to get answers to your specific questions and concerns related to the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act.
