Man accused of sexual assault of 22-year-old with autism released on bond

HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — Peter Scott Vonschimpf, 69, spent a night behind bars on allegations that he sexually assaulted a person with disabilities.

Vonschimpf was entrusted with the care of a 22-year-old mute individual with severe autism, but, according to a magistrate’s complaint filed Saturday in the Superior Court of Guam, instead of carrying out his caregiver duties, he was allegedly found with his pants down.

The mother of the 22-year-old told police she arrived home after work to find all the lights in her home off, which surprised her. “When she entered her house, she saw the defendant run out of her child’s room without any pants on,” the complaint said.

The mother also told police that her child’s undergarments were also removed.

“She immediately went into her child’s room and noticed her child’s pants and underclothes were pulled down, and a lotion was smeared all over her child’s intimate parts,” the complaint said.

When the mother confronted Vonschimpf, he allegedly responded, “This is the first time it happened.”

According to the mother, Vonschimpf was not allowed to change her child’s clothes.

Vonschimpf was charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct with the special allegation of vulnerable victim.

A first offense for Vonschimpf, he was released on a $25,000 personal recognizance bond.
