THE Game-Eats Easy defeated the Winners Group, 85-72, in the open division of the 2023 Saipan Magalahi Eagles Club Invitational Basketball League on Saturday at the Gualo Rai basketball court.
The opening quarter was a seesaw battle for control as The Game leaned on the long-range attacks with Greg Deleon Guerrero and Preston Basa firing a triple each.
The Winners Group, for their part, used teamwork on the offensive end led by Ryan Llave and Jeter Medina who delivered a total of 11 points to give their team the upper hand, 15-14.
However, the Winners Group lost touch in the second canto and were allowed only 10 team points.
The Game’s Ervin Villarin found his rhythm and led the onslaught with nine points, including one of the three triples made by his team as they established double-digit control, 44-25.
The Winners Group used the halftime break to recuperate. They returned to the court in the third quarter with the dynamic duo of Llave and Medina firing 10 and 9 points, respectively.
But The Game kept their cool and maintained the safe distance with Joe Sablan, Francisco Mizutani and DJ Ong lighting up the final quarter to secure the win, 85-72.
