HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — The Department of Public Health and Social Services issued a news release Tuesday informing the community of a voluntary recall issued by the Kraft Heinz company on Kraft Singles American processed cheese slices.
Kraft Heinz on Sept. 19 announced a voluntary recall of approximately 83,800 cases of individually wrapped Kraft Singles American processed cheese slices, which were shipped to a limited number of customers. According to Kraft Heinz, the voluntary recall comes as a precaution after a temporary issue developed from one of its wrapping machines, which made it possible for a thin strip of individual film to remain on the slice after the wrapper has been removed. If the film sticks to the slice and is not removed, it could be unpleasant and potentially cause gagging or choking, the release stated.
According to Kraft Heinz, no injuries or serious health issues have been reported. The machine that wrapped the affected slices has been fixed, and all other processing machines have been thoroughly inspected, the company stated.
Out of an abundance of caution, DPHSS cautioned Guam residents who purchased any Kraft Singles American processed cheese slices to double-check the packaging. Do not consume products labeled with the following information:
• Kraft Singles American Pasteurized Prepared Cheese Product, 16 ounces, with an individual package UPC of 0 2100061526 1 and a “Best When Used By” date of Jan. 10, 2024, through Jan. 27, 2024, and which contain an S and 72 in the manufacturing code.
• Kraft Singles American Pasteurized Prepared Cheese Product 3-pound multipacks with a carton UPC of 0 2100060491 3 and a “Best When Used By” date of Jan. 9, 2024, through Jan. 13, 2024, and Jan. 16, 2024.
