PAIRE Football Club 2 outlasted Shirley’s Football Club, 2-1, in the opening game of the 2023 Fall Dove Women’s League’s Flores-Pee Luwal (Intermediate) Division on Sunday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

As soon as the ball dropped, PFC 2 went straight for the kill. After a couple of minutes of scuffle, the team broke through  SFC’s line of defense and allowed Sharlette Casil to find the back of the net at the 4th minute mark.

SFC tried to equalize but were mostly forced to defend due to PFC 2’s constant pressure.

SFC failed to keep up as PFC 2 slipped through once more with Casil draining her second shot at the 28th minute mark to extend the gap, 2-0.

The halftime break seemed to have worked in SFC’s favor as they returned to the pitch calm and collected. This time, they denied PFC 2 the opportunity to strike with ease and were rewarded for their efforts with Stephanie Lagunero finishing the play at the 38th minute mark to reduce the deficit, 1-2.

However, PFC 2 used the clock to their advantage as they focused on forcing the possession out of bounds whenever they felt threatened. PFC 2 won, 2-1.

MP United FC 1 were led by Michelle Masga who delivered two goals while teammate Rachel Salalila scored one to triumph against the Kanoa Football Club, 3-0.
