Chin conducted the quarterly inspection on Thursday morning at the Track and Field.
Each officer was inspected on appearance, uniform, haircut and stance.
Recognized for their good appearance were Officers Arbedul, Oiterong, Andreas, Demk, Teliu, Ngiratrang, Eriich, Omisong, Rekemel, Taumoepeau, Wong, Miwa, McVey, Stark, Ngeluk, Idelkei, Gabriel, Besong, Maldangesang, Ikeda, Isimang, Yamanguchi, and Temdik.
However there were also officers who were told to lose weight when Chin noticed that some of them were overweight.
Chin also congratulated those who had recently graduated from Palau Community College with Criminal Justice degrees and encouraged the other officers to do the same, saying that a degree will help them get promotions.
Chin thanked the officers who helped out during the Olechotel Belau Fair saying that all went well without any incidents.
Chin told the officers that he was proud of the work that they do to protect the citizens of Palau.
He said he was pleased with the drop in drug and alcohol consumption and curfew violations.
He said that since the officers began conducting checkpoints, the number of DUI cases has also dropped.
Chin said that the police officers job is very dangerous and only few people are capable of doing so.
“It is a profession that requires dedication, loyalty and long hard hours,” Chin said.
He urge the officers to use extra caution when dealing with drunk and disorderly people and asked them to use the buddy system when patrolling the streets at night.
He also told the officers to take care of each other and to do their job to the best of their ability and to be proud of what they do.
BPS Division of Patrol Chief Ismael Aguon in a separate statement said that since the Emergency Siren began alerting the public about the 10:00 p.m. curfew, the number of citations issued has dropped dramatically.
