No date has been set for the poll, but the acting president, John Tabinaman, said the national government has said it would provide 3.6 million kina, or $1.4 million, to assist the election process.
“Immediately the funds are released then we should conduct awareness and conduct training for the polling officials,” he said. “In the meantime we are working on updating our common roll so that when those things are in place then we can set a date for the issuance of the writ.”
