Saipan’s Marian Deleon Guerrero Tudela is the Fund’s new trustee while Rota’s Josepha A. Barcinas will remain an election commissioner.
Senate Floor Leader Jude U. Hofschneider, R-Tinian, Sen. Maria T. Pangelinan, D-Saipan, and Sen. Paterno S. Hocog, R-Rota, were absent during the session.
Sen. Paul A. Manglona, R-Rota and floor leader pro tempore, moved for the confirmation of Tudela and Barcinas.
He said all pertinent documents of the two individuals have already been submitted to the Senate, and their appointments have been reviewed and recommended by the Senate committee on appointments.
Senate President Pete P. Reyes, R-Saipan, noted that Tudela has been a member of the Retirement Fund board in the previous administration and is no longer new to her post.
Barcinas has also been part of the election commission, and “continues to show great interest in improving the well-being” of the commonwealth, the committee report stated.
“The committee is convinced that Ms. Barcinas has been a productive member during her previous term” as election commissioner.
Gov. Benigno R. Fitial nominated Tudela on May 14, while Lt. Gov. Timothy P. Villagomez, as acting governor, re-appointed Barcinas on May 23.
