2nd leg set for Budweiser King and Queen of the Diamonds

Tournament coordinator, Joey Dela Cruz said the tournament’s Round 2 will be held on August 2 and 3 and due date for the payment of $150 registration fee will be on July 31.

The Round 1 of the said tournament that was modified into a coed to include two females in every 10-member team was held on May 17 and 18 at the Capital Hill Softball Field.

Shell Marianas topped the first leg, Sai-Pal came second and Team Chaos, third.

Dela Cruz announced that coaches and members of all teams that participated in the first leg and other teams who are interested to join will have a meeting at 6 p.m. today at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym conference room.

What used to be the Budweiser King of the Diamonds before was turned into King and Queen of the Diamonds to give women the chance to bring out their potential.

The winning team in this year’s final meet will compete in the tournament of champions to be held in Palau in November.

The CNMI team will face two teams from Palau and one team from Guam.

Each team competing in the off-island meet shall have a maximum of 15 members to include two or more females on roster.

Under the new by-laws, each team of 10 players will have two females on the field at all times.

For the past three year, Dela Cruz said the team from CNMI has been the defending champion.
