Wiseman finds probable cause in assault and battery case

Associate Judge David A. Wiseman ordered Leonard Duenas Camacho to stay away from the victim and turn in his travel documents.

Camacho was arrested and booked for two counts of assault and battery and criminal mischief.

Wiseman recommended a cash bail of $1,500.

In an affidavit,  Detective Andrea Ozawa said they received a call reporting a domestic violence incidence in Gualo Rai at about 4:36 p.m. on July 14. Police officers were immediately dispatched to respond.

Upon arriving at the scene, police officers saw the defendant in a garage. There was a car with a damaged windshield and a pair of pliers still stuck to the windshield.

A woman with a baby was crying near the vehicle.

Police learned that the woman and the defendant were having an argument.

“Broken glass and other things were strewn everywhere,” the affidavit stated, adding that police also saw three marijuana plants in the area.

These were secured by the crime scene technician.

Ozawa said investigation showed that the argument between the defendant and the victim  started when the defendant left the house that morning.

When he returned home several hours later, he hit the victim with his jacket and pushed her to the floor, the affidavit stated.

It added that the defendant kicked the victim before he started “breaking things.”

The defendant only stopped when police arrived.

Ozawa said the victim sustained bruises to her right wrist.

The detective said probable cause exists to support the charges of assault and battery against Camacho.
