25 law enforcement officers complete training

The 25 participants including two Observers from United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration received their certificates on Tuesday night during a brief closing ceremony held at the Fuji Restaurant.

Ministry of Resources and Development Minister Fritz Koshiba, Ministry of Finance Minister Elbuchel Sadang, Director of Bureau of Public Safety Norvert H. Yano and Division of Marine Law Enforcement Chief Ellender Ngirakemetii handed the certificates to the participants.

Former Director of the Forum Fisheries Agency Victor Ucherbelau and Director Theofanes Isamu of the Bureau of Marine Resource also graced the closing ceremony to express their support to the participants.

Edson Chiokai of the Division of Customs said that the training is a big help in their daily works for it helps them in terms of conducting investigation and collection of evidence.

Chiokai said that each of the divisions has different roles but they are working together because they are doing the same task and they shared the same goals—enforcement of the law.

Chiokai has been in the Division of Customs for five years now and is assigned at the processing section.

Ngirakemetii in a separate interview thanked the FFA and the trainors and everyone who contributed time and effort to make the training possible.

He said they would continue to seek more of this kind of training for the law enforcement in Palau to make them more efficient in enforcing the laws.

Ngiraketii said the FFA will again sponsor an advance regional training for members and it will be held in PNG.

He said they would choose one from each agency to represent Palau.
