know of one case where the check had been ready since May but until a few days ago, the Treasury was refusing to release it. The taxpayer was given a copy of the check but was told to wait.
I belong to the group of people who are waiting anxiously as to when we can get either a deficiency notice or a check. I’ve been to Rev and Tax last month to verify if I needed to correct or submit any documents. I was told to just wait for the check because their system didn’t show any deficiency. I bet there are still several people who are in the same category — wondering what’s happening.
Here’s another reason to ask questions. I filed my tax return in April and I have yet to receive a notice or a check, but my officemate who filed hers last June 17 got a deficiency notice already. How do they decide who gets first? I checked the IRS Web site to see if they were using the last digit of SS numbers in the scheduling but that didn’t make any sense.
Secretary Inos, thank you in advance for helping us get our money.
