“But as what the governor said through the press secretary we would like to see justice prevail,” Inos said.
Due to the “sensitivity” of the case, he said he cannot discuss it further.
“The Covenant Party will continue to work toward its goals,” he added.
Villagomez earlier said he had rejoined the Republican Party and would not be the governor’s running mate in next year’s elections.
Inos said that he’s hoping for the best for the lt. governor and his family.
“We’re sad about this unfortunate situation,” he added.
On Monday, Villagomez, Department of Commerce Secretary James A. Santos, and his wife Joaquina V. Santos pleaded not guilty to the indictment charging them with conspiracy to defraud the federal government, wire fraud and theft concerning federal funds.
The federal court set a $50,000 bail for each of them.
Another defendant, former Commonwealth Utilities Corp. Executive Director Anthony C. Guerrero, entered into a plea agreement on Friday.
