Tien during the presentation of credentials ceremony at the President’s Office at the Capitol said vowed an even closer relationship with Palau.“I am confident that there are already cordial and close ties between our two countries will continue to prosper on their smooth-sailing course,” Tien said.Tien was also welcomed by Vice President Elias Camsek Chin and members of the president’s cabinet.Remengesau for his part said he is honored for having met at least three Taiwan envoys posted in Palau.Remengesau assured Tien of Palau’s continued support for Taiwan.“You can continue to count on Palau’s voice,” Remengesau said.He added that Palau’s relationship with Taiwan has continued to grow from infrastructure development, economic growth, tourism and medical cooperation among others.“This relationship has been rewarding and successful.” Remengesau said.Tien is said to be one of the most outstanding female diplomats.Prior to serving Palau’s post, Tien served as the Deputy Director General of the Department of North American Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , Director General of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Sydney Australua and Atlanta, United States.Tien will briefly go back to Taiwan and will return to Palau to begin her post, Aug. 21.Tien said the leadership’s continued support of Taiwan “,the relationship will advance at tremendous pace and on ever more solid ground and I wish to assure you that I will do no less than my utmost for this cause.”
