“The people of the Commonwealth are extremely proud of the accomplishments of the CNMI Big League Team and acknowledge the commitment and hard work” [of the team], House Resolution 16-50 says.
The CNMI Big League won over the Philippines in the tight match, 8-7, during the tournament, and allows the team to represent the Asia Pacific region in the 2008 Little League Baseball World Series in the United States.
The members of the team include Ryan Ada, Giovanni Ayuyu, Jesse Borja, Vicente Cabrera, Vicente Camacho, Tim Cruz, Lawrence Dikito, Nunu Kapileo, ben Leon Guerrero, smith Regis, Vicente Sablan Jr., Mario Salas, Nicolas San Nicolas, Elton Santos, Juan Tenorio Jr., and Shane Yamada.
The Big League pitted against champion teams from the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Canada, and Germany.
The CNMI Big League Team is led by Coach Ignacio Taitano and manager Robert Magofna.
In the same vein, the House acknowledged the participation of the CNMI Senior and Junior League Teams during its recent session on Capital Hill.
The Senior and Junior League Teams pitted against teams from Indonesia, Guam, Hong Kong, and the Philippines at the Francisco M. Palacios Baseball Field under the Asia-Pacific Little League Baseball Tournament.
The Asia-Pacific Little League Baseball Tournament is an annual qualifying event for the Little League World Series.
The House also commended ASPAC Committee for making the baseball tournament a success.
