“Since our last price movement the market cost of Shell’s supply has reduced and we will pass these savings onto our customers,” he said in a media release.

The price at Shell stations for unleaded gasoline will decrease by 10 cents per gallon. Premium unleaded will decrease by 8 cents per gallon while diesel will decrease by 10 cents per gallon.

Mobil is expected to also reduce its prices.

Correction

EXCEPT for Rep. Stanley T. Torres, all House members present during Wednesday’s session voted in favor of overriding Gov. Benigno R. Fitial’s veto on Senate Bill 16-19.

Reps. Tina Sablan, Edward Salas and Frank Dela Cruz voted “No” on House Bill 16-77 or the “CUC Private Partnership Act of 2008.” Torres abstained.

CREAM membership meeting

(CREAM) — The Coalition for Recognition, Equality and Advancement of American Ethnic Minorities invites all concerned ethnic minorities to a membership meeting on Saturday, Aug. 2, at 5 p.m. at the Alanar Compound, Chalan Piao, Saipan across from Hopwood Junior High School.

To be discussed will be the voter registration campaign; the upcoming meeting with the candidates for congressional delegate; the plight of CNMI permanent residents, long-time guest workers with or without U.S. citizen children, the Trust Territory-period born children, and “immediate relatives” married to locals.

A get-together picnic and other topics of interest will also be discussed.

The weekly meeting is an forum where everyone can speak. A vote is taken before any decision is made by the group.

So far the coalition has over 300 members.

Red flag raised at 8 sites

(DEQ) — The Division of Environmental Quality has raised the red flag at eight sites on Saipan and advises the public not to fish or swim within 300 feet of these locations for the next 48 hours or until otherwise notified:

S. Puerto Rico Dump, Dai Ichi Drainage, Hafa-Adai Drainage, Garapan Fishing Dock, CK District #4 Drainage, Chalan Piao Beach, Hopwood School Beach and San Antonio Lift Station.

But Tinian and Managaha waters have been assigned a green flag.

NMC offers NCLEX classes

(NMC) — Northern Marianas College is offering a preparatory class for the National Council Licensure Examination.

The course is sponsored by NMC’s Area Health Education Center.

To become a licensed nurse, candidates in the CNMI and the U.S. must first pass the NCLEX.

The NCLEX classes will begin on Aug. 11. Those interested in enrolling in the class must register on or before Aug. 5 by contacting 234-5498 ext. 1010 or 1019.
