Business forum
THE Department of Commerce, in a media release, wishes to inform the business community that the Division of Alcoholic Beverage and Tobacco Control and the Division of Enforcement and Compliance are hosting an annual business forum at the multi-purpose center in Susupe on Aug. 27, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.
The forum focuses on licensing programs, identifying problem areas, ways to improve the ABTC and the Enforcement and Compliance programs, proposed changes affecting the licensing and penalty fees, partnership in improving communication and compliance in the daily activities of alcoholic beverage and tobacco products, weights and measures, taxicabs and recycling matters.
The business community is encouraged to attend this important event, as “Compliance in Promoting Commerce” is the key to a successful business.

Promoting a healthy workplace
(SHRM) — Patricia Coleman will speak about health promotion in the workplace during the Society for Human Resource Management luncheon meeting today, Aug. 21, in the Tapochau Room of the Saipan World Resort, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

NMC registration ongoing
(NMC) — It’s not too late to register for classes for the upcoming Fall 2008 semester at Northern Marianas College.
Those individuals interested in furthering their education still have until this Friday, Aug. 22, to register.
Late registration, which requires a $25 late fee, will be held on Saturday, Aug. 23 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
Admission applications for those who have already taken both placement tests will be accepted up to the last day of registration as well.
NMC offers a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, as well as an associate degree in business, liberal arts, nursing, natural resource management, business administration (with emphasis in accounting, sales and marketing, computer applications, etc.), hospitality management, criminal justice, and more.
