Letter to the Editor: Thank you

During the professional development session at the multi-purpose center, on Saturday, Aug. 16, Ms. Loste provided an update on DCCA’s inspections of childcare centers.

Ms. Loste stated that while DCCA had conducted a number of inspections and had noticed violations at some childcare centers, it was part of a process designed to allow DCCA to develop programmatic responses to the need to provide technical support and professional development to all childcare providers.

We believe the development of this program is certainly a sign of progress and we support Ms. Loste’s efforts.

While we have had issues with DCCA over other matters, there is nothing more critical than providing quality early childhood development services to our children.

Developing an effective and responsive support and development plan is vital and DCCA’s commitment to this action is laudable.

To continue to respond to the needs of our children we look forward to the development of the program and working with Ms. Loste to ensure it is implemented with the best interests of the children and their families in mind.
