Rota to equip youth center with computers

Calvo said the Rota legislative delegation has already allocated $10,000 from the poker fee fund to purchase the computers.

“I would like to see our youth learn new technology and understand how to operate computers,” he told Variety.

The Rota Youth Learning Center will cater the educational needs of the youth.

Calvo said there is also a trade for a vocational school on Rota patterned after the Marianas Trade Institute in Saipan.

With the procurement of computers, he said, it is necessary to get the services of people who can teach basic computer knowledge to the youth.

“As soon as this project is materialized it will be publicized so that the youth can avail of the computer services at the learning center — they can learn new challenge and network with their counterparts in other places instead of roaming in the streets,” he said.

Calvo said he is thinking about asking the Guam Construction Association Trade Academy to provide instructors who can train Rota students.
