On Aug. 4, the Superior Court found probable cause to charge 26-year-old Wilbur Vic Masga Inos for separate counts of robbery and assault with a dangerous weapon.
Associate Judge David A. Wiseman set the bail at $75,500 and ordered the confiscation of Inos’ travel documents upon posting of bail.
In an affidavit, George A. Barcinas of the DPS-Rota Criminal Investigation Section, said that they received a call from Rota Poker asking for assistance at around 4:14 a.m. on Aug. 4.
The caller told police that they had been robbed by a gun-totting man wearing a camouflage outfit.
The police officer who responded to the scene viewed footage taken by the security camera of the poker establishment and then met with the security guard who told him he saw the suspect carrying a rifle and running toward a property owned by Rota Mayor Joseph S. Inos.
The police officer went to the area and saw two men entering a parked car.
When the officer ordered the two men to get out of the car, he saw that Wilbur Vic M. Inos was wearing black underwear and nothing else.
The suspect’s companion told the police that he just woke up and was going to drive the suspect to Liyu area.
When questioned by the police office, Wilbur Vic M. Inos showed him a green plastic bag containing the money he took and told the police that his son was in critical condition on Guam.
The police officer said the suspect asked to be freed, saying that the officer would do the same if his own son was dying.
Barcinas said when he arrived on the scene, the suspect was telling the police officer that the rifle he used to rob the poker house was already hidden by his companions.
The rifle was later recovered on top of the roof of a barracks unit and the suspect was transported to the police headquarters for processing.
