You see, some of the boys up at the hill are no different than the people that placed them there — they don’t care. The voters don’t give a damn about their rep’s performance just as long as they get their fair share of free beers and the delivery of picnic tables and tents.
And all the reps need to do is to see to it that it keeps coming. Unless of course, they want to see change or until we have an island-wide voting then we might see new faces.
Otherwise, we are in for a long ride.
Now don’t get me wrong, Tina still has a chance, but only if the same people that put her there still believe in her the way we respected her.
I wish we had eight of Tina in the House and four in the Senate, then we will be in good hands.
I say this because I sense that she really doesn’t care whether or not she gets re-elected just as long as she knows that she is doing the right thing.
Can you imagine what it will be like if everyone, or even half of them, want to do the right thing?
I guess the problem is, what is right for them may not be right for us.
One example is the recently passed bill for Tinian’s homesteads, when majority of the lawmakers agreed to respect the leaders of Tinian who know best what their people need for their island.
This to me is a reckless and unjustified statement.
But I am more sorry to see how Tina has been frustrated by her colleagues. The problem is, she possesses a high degree of common sense and dealing with a bunch of boys that are in for the wrong reasons is not only frustrating but disappointing and disgusting. The CNMI, at the moment, sucks!
