Aguon off for Hawaii to attend Asia Pacific Seminar for Security Studies

Aguon left Monday night and is expected to be back in September.Lt. Peter Napoleon will be the Acting Chief of the Patrol Division while Aguon is away, BPS Director Norvert H. Yano said.Yano said Aguon would be representing the BPS and the Ministry of Justice. He will be back in September.He said the purpose of the seminar is to promote peace through peaceful means instead of war.The seminar involves policy making, proper use of environment, health, terrorism, cyber crimes and money laundering.Participants will be countries from Asia all the way to Pakistan, South America and United States.Pacific Command Department of Defense funded the seminar.Aguon in an interview said that its his first time to attend the Asia Pacific Seminar and he is excited to go there to exchange ideas and information on how to better serve and protect the citizens of Palau.“I’m excited to contribute for peace in our region. It’s going to be a long time away from home but I expect in the end, it will be beneficial for my personal development and knowledge to better serve Palau,”he said.Xavier Ngirameong, BPS Criminal Investigation Division chief also represented Palau at the recently held Asia Pacific Seminar on terrorism, also held in Hawaii.Ngirameong was gone for three weeks.
