Man accused of assaulting sister with a machete

BILLY John Andonius Billy is accused of assaulting his sister with the dull side of a machete.

Billy, 22, was arrested and charged with assault, assault with a dangerous weapon, and disturbing the peace.

He appeared before Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho in the custody of the Department of Corrections for a bail hearing on Friday.

Judge Camacho imposed a $15,000 cash bail on Billy and remanded him to the custody of Corrections.

Billy was also ordered to return to court for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 7 at 10 a.m. and for an arraignment on Dec. 19 at 9 a.m.

Assistant Attorney General DeJon Redd appeared for the government while Assistant Public Defender Tyler Scott represented Billy.

According to the complaint against Billy, he asked $20 from his mother, and when she did not give him money, they got into an argument.

His sister, for her part, was on the cell phone telling another sibling that their brother and mother were arguing.

When the victim put down the cellphone after the call, Billy threw her cell phone at the wall.

When she shouted at Billy, he threatened to kill them all. She told Billy to kill her instead.

Billy then went out of the room and returned holding a machete in his left hand, the complaint stated.

Billy swung the machete’s dull side of the blade at the victim hitting her on the right cheek, then swung again and hit her on the right thigh, saying that he was not afraid to kill them, the complaint added.

Billy hit the victim a second time on her right cheek with the machete, the complaint stated. The victim said she felt like she was going to lose consciousness.

Responding police officers said the victim’s cheek was purple and swollen.
